Open journal of a perimenopausal woman – HRT Changes

A few weeks ago, I finally got a date for an appointment with a menopause specialist. It was over the phone and on a Sunday. I wasn’t sure about the timing and phoned the hospital, yep your appointment is early on a Sunday.

I had been nervous as it had been so long waiting. My HRT needed some adjustment, and having endometriosis doesn’t make it simple. From history I made a note of the symptoms that were causing the most issues and the date of my last period. I made sure my phone and ear phones were fully charged. Then I waited.

As I waited for the phone to ring, I started to create this postcard watercolour. A colleague kindly gave me some watercolours she no longer wanted.

I got lost in the strokes and the phone rang. My details were checked, and the assessment started. I was able to answer questions and able to ask questions about my concerns. Once finished my body felt relieved and so I kept painting.

This is the finished piece, and I am pleased with how it turned out. Also, with the appointment. Any tips on HRT gel remembering to apply it, drying time.

I went on to explore how watercolours would look on my photography, and that will be expanded like my perimenopausal journey.
